The PNBHS 3rd XI played the Manawatu Division 3 boys final last night v LAC 1st XI. The first half was a tight affair, but LAC were able to create the better chances. LAC had eleven penalty corners to the 3rds one and also hit the post, yet the score remained 0-0 at halftime. The game became a bit more even in the fourth quarter and Fletcher Lochead was able to get the 3rd XI 2-1 ahead from a great pass from Toby Smit. LAC forced a penalty corner with time up on the clock which they were able to convert to send the game to a shoot out. Salman Tariq, Ben Murdoch, Blair Verry all converted their attempts and when Toby Smit was bought down by the LAC goalie, Salman Tariq calmly converted the stroke for the win as 3rd XI goalie, Fletcher Hoskins, saved two out of LAC's four attempts.
This means that for two years in a row, the 3rd XI went through the season unbeaten. Undoubtedly, the player of the final was Fletcher Hoskins who had a huge game in goal where he was able to repel copious amounts of attempts on goal by LAC 1st XI.
