Last week Ben Shirley competed at the World Skate Oceania and Pacific Cup Roller Sports Championships in New Plymouth. Competitors from Australia, Chinese Taipei and Japan joined their New Zealand counterparts for this event. Ben continued his strong record of performances in international competitions winning the Junior Men's Figures, Junior Men's Solo Dance and Junior Couples Dance. He also placed second in the Junior Quartet group and third in Junior Men's Freeskating. He was presented with his medals at assembly this morning.
Ben achieved some of his highest scores so far this season. New Zealand won the Junior Points trophy and the Overall Total Points trophy for the competition.
Ben will next be competing at the New Zealand Artistic Roller Sports Championships in Porirua during the upcoming school holidays.
