Manawatu Secondary Schools Orienteering Teams Relay
The final event on the secondary schools’ Orienteering calendar saw 45 PNBHS athletes assemble in the Esplanade to compete in the 3 person teams relay competition.
In the non-Championship event, PNBHS athletes filled the field with 10 teams. Gibson Moores, Adam Fountain and Cooper Robinson finished first, Luca Steinmetz, Alex Bennett and Archie Giesen were 2nd and Adi Sigh-Homs, Hugo Liuvaie and Matthew Johnson were 3rd.
In the Championship event, PNBHS put in 5 teams and were placed 1st, 3rd and 4th with two very competitive teams being DQ’d for missing one checkpoint each (MP).
1st. Toby Rea, Jason Gui and Nakul Lakhani
3rd. Harrison Stevens, Trystan MacKay and Olly Hopkirk
4th. Alex Sharpe, Ishmam Biswas and Jonny Peel.
PNBHS also retained the Senior Boys' Championship Trophy.
Another great event exposing increasing numbers to a fantastic sport. Thanks to Jakob Abernethy for his work for this and all other events in 2024.
