On Friday, 02 August, a selected group of students had the privilege of meeting Wirihana Nikora (aka Chase Woods), an old boy who attended the school from 2011 to 2013. Mr. Nikora, along with his group, visited the school to record his song "MAIEA" as part of an initiative called WAIATA ANTHEMS.
Tawaroa Kawana (aka TAWA’S) also made time and conducted an engaging workshop with the students, focusing on the creative process of composing music. During this session, students actively participated in brainstorming and developing ideas for music composition, gaining valuable insights and hands-on experience.
Special acknowledgement is given to Nathan Blundell and Josh Crossland, who provided the students with an in-depth understanding of digital audio production and the role of the camera crew in media. Their contributions were instrumental in offering the students a glimpse into potential career paths in the digital and media industries.
The event was a resounding success, offering students an enriching experience that combined musical creativity with practical career insights. The school extends its gratitude to Wirihana Nikora, Tawaroa Kawana, Nathan Blundell, and Josh Crossland for their time and efforts in making this initiative a memorable and educational experience for the students.
