The Y10 German class had a visitor yesterday: Beate Weinhardt, the National Language Adviser for German, came by. The students learnt all about the German cake Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte (Blackforest cherry gâteau), which is one of the most famous cakes in the world. Not only did the students get to impress Beate with their German skills, what is more, they decorated and devoured mini-versions of the cake in class. Great uptake and participation, great questions, great language skills all around.
