During the recent school holidays, our cycling team represented the school at the North Island Secondary Schools Road Championship held in Cambridge. Our riders competed in three demanding events: the Team Time Trial, Individual Road Race, and Criterium.

Our students performed exceptionally well, with several achieving top 10 finishes across the events. The standout performances included:
• Filip Martin, who claimed first place in the Under 17 Criterium, which his brother David Martin won 2014.
• Liam O'Dea, who had an outstanding weekend, winning the Under 15 Road Race and securing silver in the Under 15 Criterium.

Following this, Liam continued his impressive form by competing in the New Zealand Secondary Schools Track Championship at the Cambridge Velodrome, alongside three other school riders. In the Omnium, a multi-event competition consisting of five races, Liam entered the final event in second place. With a tactical and composed ride, he won the final race, which earned him enough points to be crowned National Under 15 Omnium Champion.

This capped off four days of exceptional racing for Liam.

The team now shifts its focus to the National Road Race Championship in the upcoming holidays, to be held in the Manawatū.
