It’s fantastic to see the bagpipes experiencing a renaissance at PNBHS. Earlier this week, four of our novice pipers, Tuki Walker, Oliver Smillie, Lucas Lynch and Sam Smith, had their first session on the bagpipes, having graduated from the chanter.
We are incredibly fortunate to have the services of bagpipe tutor Mr Stuart Easton in our itinerant music staff. Mr Easton is a world-class piper and six times overall New Zealand solo piping Champion. He has been a winner of the Highland Society of London Gold Medal at the Argyllshire Gathering, the Northern Meeting Silver Medal at Inverness, and recently won the Piobaireachd competition at the 54th annual Festival Interceltique de Lorient, the annual solo piping competition.
