Cricket at Palmerston North Boys' High school is highly competitive and equally successful. In recent years the school's 1st XI have reached the finals of the national tournament, The Gillette Cup in 2012 and 2013. Often seen in the company of Black Cap legend Jacob Oram who is a PNBHS Old Boy and helps with the boys' development. Palmerston North Boys' High School is one of the largest cricket clubs in New Zealand with over 450 students playing cricket at various levels.
Previous member of the 1st XI Ross Taylor has recently been ranked one of the top 10 batsmen in the world and continues to step up to the mark, scoring two ODI hundreds in the recent series with India to go with his 3 centuries against West Indies.
