WELCOME TO 2025 HOCKEY
FIRST XI TRIALS - registration for these trials now closed
These will take place on Tuesday 25 Feb at Massey Turf 5.00 to 6.30 pm AND Thursday 6 Mar at Massey Turf 5.00 to 6.30 pm.

NOTE: All other teams will have trials at a later date in Term 1. Keep an eye on the notice board (near library) and the Daily Notices.

HOCKEY AT PNBHS
Hockey at Palmerston North Boys' High School is played in Term Two and Term Three. PNBHS have a range of competitive and social teams that compete across three different Manawatu and Inter-City competitions. Players are placed in teams reflective of their ability. We have a team for students of all abilities.

HOCKEY REGISTRATION 2025
REGISTRATIONS FOR 2025 ARE NOW OPEN
ALL students who wish to play hockey in 2025 must register by clicking the link below (see Step 1) and paying their registration fee. The Base hockey fees for all players for 2025 have been set at $290. Any player that wants to play for a PNBHS team must pay the registration fee before the end of Term 1, 11 April 2025. Once a player has paid they will automatically be put into a team, following trials, for the season. They may well change teams based on performance during the season.
Players that are selected for the 1st XI, 2nd XI or Colts will be invoiced an additional $150 later in the season (early August). This is used to cover the additional costs of turf bookings as well as extra travel throughout the season as they play in the Inter-City League which involves a substantial amount of travel.
Note: 1sts, 2nds and Colts normally attend tournaments during the year at additional costs.
The steps required to register are outlined below

In order to register, students are required to pay fees via Online Banking using the details below.

STEP 3
Registration for Trials for various teams other than 1sts.
NOTE: Registration for other teams' trials will follow in the 2nd half of March.
Notices
Trials for 2025 will commence with a 1st XI trial on 25 February and 6 March at 5pm to 6.30pm at the Hockey Manawatu Twin Turfs. Once this initial squad is selected, trials for the remaining senior teams (usually 2nd to 4th teams) will take place.
Trials for the Colts team (Y9 and Y10) will also take place once the 1st squad is announced.
Further details of dates will be posted here after 15 March.
Game nights
The secondary school season starts in Mid-May. 1st XI, 2nd XI and Colts A play on a Thursday night. All other boys grades are played on a Wednesday night.
Uniform
All players must have correct uniform. Players are all expected to have mouth guard and shin guard protection before they are allowed to play.

Draw
The season draw will be live on Play HQ once it has been finalised. Matches usually starts in Week 3 of Term 2.

HOCKEY UNIFORM 2025
Hockey uniform is purchased separately through the PNBHS Uniform Shop. Students who already own these items will not need to purchase them again. The Hockey shorts are the same as those used in Basketball and Football. Mouth guards are compulsory. Players will not be permitted to take the field without a mouth guard.
