Boys' High played Francis Douglas Memorial College in a National Qualification fixture, winning the match 1 – 0.  Boys' High settled into their work early, creating several chances on goal, with no success.  FDMC absorbed this pressure and slowly worked their way back into the game but were unable to penetrate the Boys' High defence, with Lewis Atherton and Zac Mangos having strong games.  At half time the score was nil all and any-ones game.

In the 2nd half, Boys High started to string together some nice moves and they were rewarded with a well scored goal by Alex Saunders-Malouf, who found the back of the bread basket.  With a one goal lead, Boys' High played tenaciously for the rest of the match to take the win.  Francis Douglas could count themselves unlucky to not get any points from the fixture, while Boys' High showed that a determined team effort can produce results.  Than Oo, Troye Aitken and Sam Jones all had strong games, while Liam Outtrim displayed his talent in goal.  Of note, Liam Outtrim will be playing for the Palmerston North Marist central league team on the weekends as their regular goal keeper.  The 1st XI now look forward to their next qualification game against New Plymouth Boys, next week.
