Congratulations to Xavier Hill who represented NZ in the Australian Inter-State Competition which was held in Canberra at The Australian Institute of Sport at the end of Term 3. He achieved 2 bronze medal placings - in the 200M Butterfly and as a member of the 4x100m medley relay team. He also swam a personal best performance in the 200m breaststroke and set a new Manawatu age-group record of 30.07s in the 50m breaststroke.

In the second week of the school holidays, Xavier travelled to Auckland for the National Short Course Swimming Championships. He won the Gold Medal in the Boys 15yrs 200m Butterfly and, as the 10th fastest across ALL age groups, was the youngest swimmer to qualify for the Senior Men's final. He also won 4 silver medals, setting a new Manawatu Open Men's record of 56.57s in the 100m Butterfly and breaking his own Manawatu age group record in the 100m Individual Medley with a 59.42s.

Congratulations also to Year 13 student Chris Arbuthnott, who won seven gold medals at the recent New Zealand Short Course National Championships, swimming three personal best times in the process. He won the 50m and 100m butterfly, the 50m and 100m freestyle, 100m and 200m individual medley and the 100m backstroke in the AWD category.
