PNBHS Year 9 Specials win Manawatu Hockey Secondary Schools Division 3
The Year 9 Specials Hockey team played their Division 3 final on Tuesday night 29 August v Feilding High School Hostel. The Feilding team have been unbeaten all season. FAHS were bigger, faster and stronger as they were Year 12 and 13 students, but the Year 9's had the better skills and passing game. The first half was tight, with both sides creating good chances and a 2 all scoreline was a fair reflection. Half time saw the team receive a firm talking to from coach Caleb Hanson. Both sides continued to create chances in the second half, but PNBHS were taking them. Centre forward Perry Smith scored a hat-trick, taking his season tally to 43. Ben Nixon scored 2 and Ben Harvord 1. PNBHS eased away in the end with a 6-2 win. A great team performance full of accurate passing and clinical finishing.
