NZSS BOYS’ 1ST XI CUP FINALS – GAME 4 VS ROSMINI COLLEGE - THURSDAY 7 DECEMBER
Winning the toss and electing to bat first, PNBHS had a horror start, sinking to 43 for 5 in the 16th over. Thankfully, Thomas Walshe’s steady improvement throughout the week continued and when he was joined by a solid looking Rishabh De, they took the score to 102 before Walshe perished for 52. This brought Ben O’Connor to the wicket and, with Rishabh playing a steady hand, He was able to play a captain’s knock and unleash, scoring 69 from 64 balls, including 8 fours and 2 sixes. Unfortunately, when these 2 got out, the tail failed to wag and the 1st XI succumbed to 205 all out in the 49th over. Once again failing to use up their overs. De scored 41.
The bowling effort was a huge step up from the previous day, with the bowlers hitting their marks and not giving the batsmen too much leeway. Unfortunately for PNBHS, the Rosmini players batted responsibly, offering very few chances and cashing in on the occasional bad ball. In the end the total proved to be too small and the 1st XI were outplayed on the day with the opposition chasing down the total in the 46th over. Ben O’Connor took 2 for 42.
In the final game today (Friday), the 1st XI take on Christchurch Boys’ High on Fitzherbert Park.
