3rd XI Cricket Match Report
The 3rd's took on Palmerston in the weekend and were asked to bowl after losing the toss. Wade McNabb made a great start in his first game for the 3rd's, taking a wicket with the second ball of the match. From there some solid hitting and edging the ball through gaps got the run rate moving. A change of pace brought some wickets that also put a halt to the run rate before Palmerston were dismissed for 133 in 33.4 overs. Charlie Lourie 4-13, Mr Vindriis 3-13 and Jonty Fleck 2-6. The 3rd's got off to a flyer before Lachie Bradford was runout at the bowlers end backing up to a crushing Charlie Justice straight drive. 49-1 in 4.5 overs was still looking good before a flurry of wickets fell and the score was 62-4. Cool heads from Kalani Rhodes and Jonty Fleck narrowed the deficit before some power hitting from Villiami Vakapuna brought up the total 5 down after 19.5 overs. Kalani Rhodes 28*, Charlie Justice 22, Viliami Vakapuna 20*. A win to the 3rds by 5 wickets.
