3rd XI Interschool v Wanganui Collegiate
The 3rd XI travelled to Wanganui to play an interschool against their 2nd XI. Overnight, rain had dampened the outfield but the pitch had remained dry under the covers. The 3rds won the toss and elected to bat and scoring was hard work. The 3rds battled away until lunch at the 18 over mark the score 53-4. 2 runouts had put the 3rds on the back foot. After lunch batting didn’t get any easier and at 85-9 after 33 overs it looked like an early bus ride home was on the cards. Out to the crease strode Wade McNabb who with Harley Smith played a very measured know to get the side through to 155 in 48.4 overs. Harley Smith 44, Wade McNabb 22* Extras 40. Wanganui were getting very frustrated that they couldn’t finish of the tail and that carried into their batting. The 3rds struck in the 4th over, and when spin came into the attack the game was all but wrapped up by a 5 wicket bag to Charlie Lourie. The innings was brought to a close in 32.5 overs for 93. Charlie Lourie 5-23. A win by 62 runs.
