Year 9 Specials Cricket v Wellington College

Batting first on a poor Ongley Park pitch that was popping off a length, PNBHS made a cautious start. Fred McVerry with 26 held the top order together but regular wickets fell as PNBHS found themselves at 63/4 off 21 overs.  The middle order were able to accelerate the scoring thanks to Max Herbert who stroked the ball into the gaps and ran well between the wickets for 36 not out and was ably assisted by hard hitting batsmen Jett Donald-Charnley and Thomas Bell.  PNBHS managed 154/8 off 40 overs.

Wellington College, in reply, lost regular wickets right from the start and despite runs scored from their tail, they never threatened PNBHS’ total and were bowled out for 108.  A 46 run win to the year 9 specials.  Alec Strydom, Jett Donald-Charnley and skipper Adesh Ganugapati taking 2 wickets apiece and Fred McVerry with an outstanding run out.

Year 9 Specials Cricket v St Pats Silverstream

Captain Aadesh Ganugapati won the toss and chose to bat.  PNBHS made a steady start and the game was delicately poised at 69/3 off 20 overs at drinks. After drinks Max Herbert (55) and Jett Donald-Charnley (79*) produced a rapid 100 run partnership at better than a run a ball.  On Max’s dismissal, Jett produced a number of late boundaries to get PNBHS up to an imposing 223/6 off their 40 overs.  Jaiden Meyer with 35 and Aadesh with 21 also made useful contributions.

St. Pats in response never looked likely and were bowled out for 49.  Jett Donald-Charnley taking 3 wickets and Thomas Bell 2.  A win to the year 9 specials by 174 runs.
