Three current students - Lachlan McKean (left), Reuben Bilsland (centre) and Douglas Bilsland - are members of the Foundation New Zealand Youth Pipe Band. Douglas, who plays drums, was selected into the group in January 2015, while Lachlan and Reuben, who are both pipers, were selected in January 2017. In April, Lachlan, Reuben and Douglas will head to Australia with the Foundation New Zealand Youth Pipe Band to compete in the Australian Pipe Band National Championships. Douglas is also a drummer for the New Zealand Police Pipe Band, who won the Grade 1 New Zealand Pipe Band Championship, and are now the top pipe band in the country.
