1ST XI CRICKET VS AGS – DAY 3

The third day of the exchange started with Auckland Grammar declaring at 77 for 6 in an attempt to force a result and challenge for the Cup. PNBHS made a steady start but a flurry of wickets set the proverbial cat amongst the pigeons. Luckily, this brought Sam Russell to the wicket to join Curtis Heaphy and together they blunted the Auckland attack, allowing Curtis and Max Harris to plunder the lesser bowlers in the latter part of the innings. Once the game was beyond the opposition’s grasp, the batsmen relaxed and gave away some cheap wickets, but at no cost to the result. The 1st XI was eventually bowled out for 211 with 15 minutes to go, meaning that the game was drawn and PNBHS retained the Oram Cup. Max Harris scored an impressive 52, but it was Curtis Heaphy’s 75 from 191 balls which ultimately settled the issue.
