Last weekend Benjamin Wall, Andre Le Pine-Day, Bradyn Popow and Reuben Brown competed at the New Zealand Track and Field Championships in Hamilton, as part of the Manawatu-Wanganui team. All four young men competed strongly and produced some outstanding results.
In a very close under 18 800m race, Benjamin Wall was second in a time of 1 minute 55.64 seconds and Andre le Pine-Day was third in a time of 1 minute 56.27 seconds. The under 18 1500m was another tightly contested race. Benjamin placed second in a time of 4 minutes 10.75 seconds while Andre was ninth in a time of 4 minutes 19.92 seconds.
Both Benjamin and Andre were members of the 4 x 400m relay team that placed second.
Bradyn Popow competed in the under 20 Road Walk, where he was third in a time of 1 hour, 1 minute and 32 seconds. Bradyn also competed in the under 18 3000m walk, finishing second in a time of 17 minutes and 19 seconds.
Reuben Brown competed in the under 20 Long Jump, finishing in sixth place with a jump of 6.53 metres.
