In near perfect conditions on Tuesday evening at the Manawatu Community Athletics Track new records were set by Benjamin Wall (left in the photograph below) and Andre Le Pine-Day (right in the photograph below) in the senior and intermediate 1500 metres events.
Benjamin Wall ran a time of 3 minutes 55.81 seconds to set a new personal best time and a new school record for the senior 1500m. Benjamin eclipsed the previous record of 4 minutes 0.60 seconds set by Josh Baan in 2013.
Andre Le Pine-Day ran a time of 4 minutes 01.80 seconds to set a new mark in the intermediate 1500m, surpassing the record set by Benjamin Wall in 2017 of 4 minutes 05.38 seconds. Liam Wall also ran a new personal best time of 4 minutes 23.95 seconds in the intermediate race.
These were outstanding performances from Benjamin and Andre, continuing their strong form this season.
