PNBHS NZCT Junior Cricket

Day 4 (Thursday 22 March) v Saint John’s College

PNBHS won the toss and chose to bowl after a delayed start caused by overnight and morning rain with the game reduced to 30 overs a side.  The bowlers were made to work hard early with a wet ball and Saint John’s were able to make a reasonably positive start.  The introduction of Michael Watkins and Jonty Fleck slowed the run-rate down but Saint John’s were still well placed at 104/3.  Tight bowling at the back end of the innings from Josh Campbell and Lochie Avery saw wickets tumble and Saint John’s were reduced to 120/9 off their 30 overs.

Josh Campbell 4-26 and Lochie Avery 2-22 were the main wicket takers.

In response, PNBHS were in trouble early, losing two wickets which bought Jaiden Meyer and Curtis Heaphy to the wicket.  The boys started cautiously but eventually began to open up with Curtis hitting two huge sixes off the 20th over, the two combining in a partnership of 105, getting PNBHS home by 8 wickets with almost 10 overs to spare.  Curtis Heaphy was unbeaten on 57 and Jaiden Meyer was 46 Not Out.
