Boys' High played Francis Douglas Memorial College, in a National qualifying fixture, winning  6 – 2.  The team got off to a nervous start, with an early defensive error, that should have been punished by the FDMC striker.  Fortunately, the shot on goal was not “put away”, and it proved a deciding wake-up call for the home team, spurring them into a “goal scoring frenzy”.

An early goal by Kaykay Adeyinka, followed by one from Jett MacGregor-Dunn set the scene and instilled some confidence in the team.  From then on, Boys’ High dominated most phases of the game, setting up numerous chances on goal.  Minutes before half-time, Kaykay Adeyinka struck again to give the team a 3 nil lead into the end of the first half.

The second half was a repeat of the first half, with Boys’ High attacking from a stable defensive base and dominating procession in the mid field.  Jett MacGregor-Dunn fired in a well-struck goal, followed by another from Mason Charlton who found the back of the net after a nice cross from Alex Bowden.  Not to be out done, Luke Minshull scored from a free kick just outside the box to set up the win for Boys’ High.

FDMC however, were able to score two unanswered goals in the last 5 minutes of the game after Boys’ High took the “metal off the pedal”, which distracted from a very fine 70 minutes of dominating football.  The 1st XI look forward to their next National qualification fixture against Hawera High School in two weeks time.
