Today, the PNBHS 1st XI Football team played Hawera High School, winning 7 – 1. The team got off to a promising start, against a young Hawera High School side, with most of the attacking play. Boys’ High dominated both possession and territory and were able to set up numerous chances on goal, going up 5 nil, into the break.

In the second half, Boys' High “turned down the throttle” and slowly let Hawera come into the game, allowing them to string some passes together and threatening the home teams goal. Eventually, Hawera found the back of the net from a well-taken free kick. In response, Boys’ High scored after a build up from the back, with Mason Charlton taking the honours. This was Mason’s hat-trick goal and reflected the work he and others did, around the park. Goals were scored by: Kaykay Adeyinka (1), Ryan McDermott (1), Luke Minshull (2), and Mason Charlton (3). The 1st XI look forward to their next Nationals qualification fixture against New Plymouth Boys' High in two weeks’ time.
