Last night, two Year 9 teams competed in the Manawatu Readers Cup competition in the Feilding Civic Centre. The Readers Cup competition encourages ‘deep reading’ of set novels. The young men involved had to read and study the prescribed books and then answer a series of challenging questions about them. The competition involved 14 teams from ten schools from Palmerston North, Feilding, Whanganui and the Wairarapa. The books for the Readers Cup were: Dawn raid, 1918: Broken Poppies, The Traitor and Thief, The Bone Sparrow, Turtles all the Way Down and Snow White. All of these books are available in the PNBHS library.
