NEW ZEALAND BUSINESS WEEK

Eight of our young men were privileged to attend The Brave Thinkers programme at New Zealand Business Week in the first week of the school holidays. One of our young men, Johnson Liu, and his team were lucky enough to make it through to the finals with their ideas. They were then put in front of a panel of judges and around 100 sponsors and business people at a formal dinner on the final night to present their idea. The boys expressed how much they had enjoyed the week; meeting new people, networking and gaining confidence were some of the biggest things they took away.

New Zealand Business Week was a one week programme where students were encouraged to be bold in their thinking, learn about new business models, meet other business people and combine academic learning with business decision making. They had one week to form a virtual company, with an idea which would solve a social, environmental or individual issue. The groups had to make decisions about marketing, personnel and production in order to develop and grow a successful business.

The week also had a strong emphasis on personal development - confidence, leadership, team work - and included an extensive, supervised, social programme which included visiting some of the most successful businesses and meeting some of the most inspirational entrepreneurs from throughout the Manawatu.
