The Year 11 Regional Geography quiz – Maatangi Whenua was held at Massey University last week.
There were 12 strong teams from the greater Manawatu region competing for the title. The quiz involved 10 different rounds where the teams had to complete a variety of activities involving Geography skills and knowledge.
Going into the last round, our team of William Ward, Ollie Gillespie and Cameron Oliver were first by just half a point from Feilding High School.
Unlike in some previous years, the team finished strongly, topping the score in the last (Geography in the news) round. This resulted in them finishing five points clear of second-placed St. Peters College, who were last year’s winners. Whanganui High School were in third place.
It is good to again have the trophy in the cabinet after relinquishing it in 2015.
