The final of the Shand Shield debating competition today pitted Vernon against Kia Ora arguing the moot ‘This house believes universities should be a forum for free and open debate even in the face of civil unrest’. The Vernon club team of Andrew Karatea, Aidan Berkahn and Ronan Carroll successfully affirmed the moot in a narrow victory over the Kia Ora team of Logan Schwartfeger, Thomas van Stipriaan and William Wood.
