Shand Shield Arrangements

Dear Parents,

Re : Shand Shield Winter Tournament Arrangements - Tuesday 25 September

This letter is to inform you of some important details regarding the Shand Shield Winter Tournament next Tuesday. This information has been explained to all students but we are aware that sometimes important information may not be passed on.

All students have roll call at the normal time of 8.45am and then they proceed to a club period, followed by assembly. From assembly the students will be dismissed to their various venues for the competition.

If your son has had his name recorded for an event he is expected to turn up to that event. For those students who were not selected or who did not wish to participate in an event, they must bring appropriate school work with them as they will be supervised at school. We have suggested that with examinations fast approaching for seniors and juniors, this would be a good opportunity to get some effective revision done.

Please note the following re various venues:

Football: Students involved in the football at Skoglund Park will be transported there by bus and returned by bus. If a student wishes to leave directly from the park at the end of the day they must inform Mr Ducre.

HockeyStudents involved in Hockey at the Hockey Turf will be transported there by bus and returned by bus. If a student wishes to leave directly from the park at the end of the day they must inform Mr Blanks.

Basketball and Volleyball: Students walk or bike to Pascal Street Stadium as directed by the staff. At the end of the day students will be dismissed from the stadium.

Rugby: This activity is at School.

Chess and Quiz: These activities are at school.

Smallbore Shooting: This is at the Smallbore Range on Maxwells Line. There is a staff member in charge of each of the teams and they will have made sure that their club team has a way of getting to the range and back again. In most instances, students are taken in staff vehicles.

The only exception to the starting time for the activities is golf. These students leave school at the start of the day and have been told where and when to meet.

Please note that students are expected to remain at the venues until they have been dismissed by the staff member in charge. Students will not be permitted to leave the venues during the competition and therefore a cut lunch is required. There will not be an opportunity for students to purchase lunch except for those students at school and at the Hockey Turf.

It is very unlikely that the event will be cancelled. Students should anticipate that the event will go ahead. For those students involved in Rugby, Football and Hockey, it is highly recommended that a warm, weatherproof jacket is taken.  Please note that any postponement of the Tournament is unlikely to be announced until around 8.30am.

Generally, dismissal times from the venues are between 2.30pm and 2.45pm.
