Yesterday at assembly Old Boy and Patron of the White Jersey Club, Mr Euan Hubbard, made a special presentation to 1st XV captain Stewart Cruden to recognise his significant achievements in rugby.
Stewart was first selected for the 1st XV while he was a Year 10 student in 2015. He was subsequently named as co-captain in 2017 and captain in 2018. Since then he has gone on to play a total of 61 matches, including 36 ‘white jersey’ games. Over this time Stewart has scored 385 points for the 1st XV – 14 tries, 95 conversions and 35 penalties (White Jersey games: 219 points 4 tries, 49 conversions, 27 penalties. Other games: 166 points 10 tries, 46 conversions, 8 penalties).
Stewart has also been selected for a number of representative teams, most notably to attend the Hurricanes under 17 and under 18 training camps, the New Zealand under 18 Māori in 2017 and the New Zealand Secondary Schools Barbarians in 2018.
