Cricket Report PNBHS 1st XI VS Old Boys CC - 11/11/18
Playing for the first time on Fitzherbert Park, PNBHS bowled first on a pitch that had plenty of grass on the surface. The opening bowlers made a steady start, making it difficult for the opposition to score. The 1st XI were sharp in the field too and once the 1st change bowlers made their appearance, Old Boys’ frustration showed and wickets started to fall. The Boys’ High players kept the pressure on and managed to remove the opposition for 129 in the 44th over. Finn Martin took 2 for 22, Bryn Wilson 3 for 14 and Rishabh De 4 for 29 in a polished performance in the field.
Some early wickets fell in the PNBHS innings but the batsmen kept the scoreboard ticking and put together some useful partnerships. This allowed subsequent batsmen to settle in on a wicket that continued to be challenging throughout. Patience was a prerequisite and this proved to be the difference between the teams as the 1st XI reached the required score, scoring 131 for 6 in the 32nd over. A win by 4 wickets. Curtis Heaphy scored an assured 29 and Mr Davidson and unbeaten 45.
It was good to beat the competition leaders, albeit without their representative players.
