Beginning this week, all young men in Year 9 will have the opportunity to travel to Wellington on a Social Studies field trip, where they will visit Te Papa and Pukeahu National War Memorial Park. In the lead up to ANZAC Day, the Social Studies course had a specific focus on New Zealand’s involvement in World War One, and in particular the events of Gallipoli and the Western Front. The exhibitions at both Te Papa and Pukeahu National War Memorial Park build on this knowledge and provide a vivid reminder of the horrors endured by New Zealanders during the war.
