Junior Invitational Cricket Tournament | Hawke's Bay

PNBHS Year 9 Specials v Havelock North High School Colts - Tuesday 27 November

Unfortunately, the first day of the Hawke's Bay tournament was rained out.  Instead, the team did a tour of the Laver and Wood bat-making factory and spent some time at the Napier Aquatic Centre.

The first game was then on Tuesday v Havelock North High School Colts.  Aadesh Ganugapati won the toss and chose to bat first.  PNBHS got off to a slow start losing two wickets in the first ten overs.  This bought Oscar McVerry and Aadesh together who proceeded to put on a partnership of 96 for the third wicket.  Oscar played a number of big shots hitting six fours and two sixes, but was also good at turning over the strike between big shots.  Aadesh showed positive intent and ran well between the wickets.  Some late hitting from Jaiden Meyer got PNBHS to 180/7 off their 40 overs.

Oscar McVerry              63

Aadesh Ganugapati       42

Jaiden Meyer               21

Havelock North were immediately under pressure in response as Thomas Bell took four early wickets to have Havelock struggling at 13/4.  A stubborn fifth-wicket partnership and some middle order hitting gave Havelock a glimmer of hope, but Jett Donald-Charnley was able to come on and blast out the tail without much addition to the scoring.  Havelock North High School ending with 94 all out.

Jett Donald-Charnley                4-4 off 3 overs

Thomas Bell                             4-8 off 6 overs

A win to the Year 9 specials by 86 runs.
