PNBHS Year 9 Specials v St John’s College - Wednesday 28 November

After being asked to field first, PNBHS got off to a dream start with Saim Ahmed taking 2 wickets in the first over of the game.  St. John’s were then able to put on a partnership of 60 for the third wicket and a number of handy partnerships formed in the middle order.  This put them well placed to make a competitive total, sitting at 111/6.  At this stage, Saim Ahmed was re-introduced into the attack and proceeded to blast out the lower order causing a St. John’s collapse to end up being 117 all out.

Saim Ahmed                 5-18

Fred McVerry               2-12 off 10 overs

In reply, PNBHS made a slow, but solid start.  The fall of the first wicket bought Oscar McVerry to the crease and he was able to form a substantial partnership of 77 with opener Jaiden Meyer.  Both batsmen took their time to establish themselves, but once in, both were very severe on anything short.  Once both batsmen fell, Aadesh Ganugapati and Max Herbert were able to guide the team to the target.

Jaiden Meyer               47

Oscar McVerry              21

A win to the Year 9 Specials by 7 wickets with 20 overs to spare.
