Cake League All Stars v Year 10 B’s

The Year 10 B’s won the toss and elected to bat first on a hard, green pitch here at school. Openers Cameron Caffell and Thomas Fowell looked assured racing through to 36 runs in just 5.4 overs. Abiding by Cake League rules, Thomas was automatically retired from batting when he reached 35 runs. From this moment on, the ball began to dominate the bat, and the Cake League All Stars fought their way back into the game. Ethan Robinson (son of “Rocket” Robinson) bowled his 2 overs for just 4 runs. Dylan Evans, Connor Managh and Travis Larney were also hard to score off, and this group of bowlers each claimed a well-deserved wicket. Special mention must go to Abbas Muhammad who inflicted a brilliant direct hit run out and took a “high changger” to stymie any chance of a late flurry of runs.

The 10 B’s scored a moderate total of 110 for 5 in their 20 overs.

In reply, the Cake League All Stars top order approached their batting with gusto. Unfortunately, that exuberance led to a few too many risks being taken, and SIX batsmen perished to catches. Blake Rhodes-Robinson biffed to two powerful boundaries in his 14, while Dylan Evans also slapped two fours on his way to 15.

Rian Lyver took 2 for 7, Max Barber took 2 for 2, and Thomas Fowell took 3 for 5 for the 10 B’s as the All Stars were dismissed for 59 in 11 overs.

A win to the Year 10 B’s by 51 runs.
