The 3rd XI travelled to Feilding to play their last game of the round robin.  They won the toss and chose to bat. Feilding was very loose to start gifting many extras. The second wicket fell after 10 overs with the 3rds 36-2. The 4th wicket fell at 56 and drinks were taken in the 20th over. Viliami Vakapuna came to the wicket and had some clean hitting on his way to 31 off 18 balls with 5 4s and a 6. Opener Rian Lyver fell in the 29th over for a patient 30. Jett Donald-Charnley was the only other batsman to offer much resistance as the 3rds were bowled out for 132 in 37.5 overs. Extras the top scorer with 34. Feilding started their chase slowly being 37 without loss after 10 before a sharp direct hit runout from Aadesh Ganugapati made the breakthrough. At drinks, it was 71-1. Thomas Bell made a breakthrough straight after drinks and started to dry up the runs in partnership with Lachie Avery. More wickets fell through the next 10 overs and 98-5, soon became 112-7 after another sharp run out by Rian Lyver. In the end, it wasn’t enough as their number 5 brought them home with 4.2 overs to spare. A loss by 3 wickets but the 3rd Xi will keep their place in the Top 6 competition that begins next week.
