Year 9 Specials v Whanganui Collegiate

Whanganui Collegiate School (WCS) were sent in to bat first by PNBHS skipper Van Prenter on a soft Ongley Park pitch.  WCS got off to a solid start putting on 36 for the first wicket.  This was until first change bowler Sam Kennett was introduced into the attack as he proceeded to rip the heart out of the WCS top order on his way to figures of 4-17 off 7 overs.  WCS were able to form a substantial 5th wicket partnership until the introduction of spin from Tom Collier and Rory Trotter halted the scoring and were able to chip out wickets.  WCS scoring 142/8 off 40 overs.  Off spinner Rory Trotter with 3-14 off 6 overs at the death was a stand out bowler.

PNBHS were steady in their run chase.  All the top and middle order made handy contributions with Damien Van den berg, in particular, holding the chase together with a measured 32.  Ethan Campbell and Tom Collier were able to guide the time over the line with an unbeaten 6th wicket partnership of 31.  The feature of PNBHS batting was very good running between the wickets and being able to put away the bad ball.

A win to PNBHS by 5 wickets and 5 overs to spare.
