1st XI Cricket VS St Pat's Silverstream- 28/02

Jack Wenham won the toss and elected to bowl first on a good-looking Silverstream pitch.  The bowlers struggled to find their line and length, allowing the opposition to get off to a fast start. This trend continued until the introduction of spin, which put the brakes on the scoring, allowing Boys High to apply some pressure. This pressure led to some wickets but wayward bowling allowed St Pat's to wrest back the advantage, advancing the total to 228 for 5 in the 47th over. The PNBHS opening bowlers then returned to take 5 wickets for 10 runs , bowling them out for 238 in the 49th over. Thomas Kirk took 2 for 40, Jack Wenham 2 for 47, Hugo Wakeling 2 for 36 and Angus Lyver 3 for 44.

The 1st XI batsmen made a promising start to the chase, scoring at s good clip with sharp running between the wickets. When the 2nd wicket fell on 37, Henry Deans joined Curtis Heaphy in what would be a match-defining innings of 121 run partnership. This carried the team into the 37th over before Henry perished for a well-constructed 68. Curtis continued to hold steady but the run-rate pressure told on the incoming batsmen, who formed a procession to the wicket and back.  Fortunately,  he found an ally and took it to the last over, needing 11 from 6 balls. A dot ball built the pressure but 2 fours took it to 3 from 3 and with the field up, Curtis hit a 4 off the last ball to take PNBHS to a 3 wicket win. Curtis Heaphy  top-scored with 96 not out in an outstanding knock.
