2nd XV vs Hutt International Boys’ School

Saturday 6 April 2019

The 2nd XV travelled to Hutt International Boys’ School (HIBS) to play their annual pre-season fixture against the HIBS 1st XV. They were greeted with a damp and drizzly Wellington and so this was a test of the 2nd XV skill set. The 2nd XV started slowly, gifting possession and territory to HIBS who camped in the 2nd XV 22 and from a missed tackle, scored the opening try of the game.

PNBHS began to work their way back into the game. The forwards were starting to gain ascendency but a number of chances were wasted through forced passes and simple mistakes. Off a solid scrum, a well-worked move saw Jershon Carberry score before Jared Sellwood dotted down to make the half time score 12-7.

The second half saw PNBHS pick up the intensity significantly. The forwards began to carry strongly and regularly break the gain line. This created space and PNBHS took full advantage, winning a tricky fixture comfortably 37-12.

Try Scorers: Jershon Carberry, Jared Sellwood, Leo Gordon, Kodie Albert-Papanui, Tom Beard, Keanu Watson, Livai Stevenson
