CRICKET REPORT: PNBHS 1ST XI VS FEILDING CC – 12/10/19
Captain, Cutis Heaphy won the toss and elected to bat first on a rather lush-looking Kowhai Park in Feilding. It soon became clear that scoring was going to be a grind as the batsmen gained no value from shots and even singles were risky with the ball dying in the long grass. A patient 26 from Heaphy and a positive 39 from Logan Love were the only scores of note as the team was bowled out for 117 in the 46th over.
The Feilding batsmen had a similar struggle as the PNBHS bowlers maintained good lines to stall the scoring. When the 3rd wicket fell on 69 in the 34th over, the Boys’ High players realised that they were in with a chance. Unfortunately, a number of opportunities were missed and this, together with 30 wides, allowed Feilding to pass the total in the 48th over with 5 wickets down. The pick of the bowlers was Angus Lyver with figures of 10 overs, 2 wickets for 11 runs.
