Cricket Report – 1st XI Prem A T20 Competition – 23/11/2019

Game 1 VS Old Boys’ CC:
PNBHS took the field and the bowlers were immediately on song, not giving the opposition batsmen anything to score off. This pressure led to wickets and Old Boys’ limped to 37 for 3 in the 10th over. Backed up by some enthusiastic fielding, the 1st XI continued to put the squeeze on, limiting them to 90 for 6 at the end of their allocated overs. Angus Lyver took 2 for 19.
The Boys’ High batsmen made a sprightly start, mixing quick running between the wickets with aggressive shot-making. This approach led to some wickets falling, but the team was always in control, surpassing the score in the 17th over to win by 6 wickets. Jack Wenham scored 25 and Josh Campbell 26 not out.

Game 2 VS United CC:
Batting first, the PNBHS batmen struggled to come to terms with accurate bowling on a well-used pitch, slumping to 17 for 3 in the 5th over. A 50-run partnership went some way to restoring the innings, but an attempt to force the pace in the final overs led to injudicious shot-selection, resulting in a sub-par 105 all out. Josh Campbell made 29 and Mr Davidson 36 not out.
The 1st XI bowlers once again put the pressure on the opposition batsmen with some tight bowling, but an inconsistent effort in the field saw half-chances go begging. Nevertheless, the team managed to keep the United batsmen to a-run-a-ball and once the top order had been prised out, wickets started to fall with regularity. Unfortunately, it was a little too late and they were able to advance to 106 for 7 in the 17th over. Angus Lyver took 2 for 19 and Regan Fleming 2 for 3.
