4th XI v United Cricket Club

On 29/02 the 4th XI played United Cricket Club in a T20 due to the rain delayed start. Logan Hey lost the toss and the 4ths were asked to bat on the artificial wicket with a slightly damp outfield. Oliver Allen remained resilient in the opening overs, while Wade McNabb went to work hitting 3 boundaries before being dismissed on 12. The combined loss of Oliver at 26-2 brought Jacob Cowie and Logan Hey to the crease, who both enjoyed the change of bowlers. Jacob clearing the rope on several occasions hitting 35 off 18 before having to walk on a missed bump ball call, and Logan 32 off 21. The middle order all made small contributions, with Dan McDougall and Hamish Ramsay finishing the innings off with 19 not out and 11 not out respectively. The 4ths managing to get through to 160-7 off their 20.

Unfortunately the efforts with the bat did not continue in the field, where dropped catches and sloppy fielding infected the 2nd innings. United made the most of their chances and punished any loose bowling sensibly, but the game swung back and forwards as wickets fell and the run rate fluctuated around 7-8. At 130-6 in the 17th over, the 4ths were confident of closing it out, but some late hitting and luck helped United get through to 162/7 with 7 balls remaining. A loss by 3 wickets.
