Senior Blue Water Polo – Thursday 5 March
Last night the Senior Blue Water Polo team played a double header against the two St Patrick’s teams.
Senior Blue v St Pat’s Silverstream:
The Blue team was quite simply superb in the first game against St Patrick’s
Silverstream; strong defence laid the platform for counterattack, which in turn
was incredibly accurate. The Blue team scored a lot of quality goals on the
weak side which is what we have been working on in trainings. Zac Tutty was
impenetrable in the goal. Every field player managed to score in the 22-1 rout.
Special mention to Alex Odom who scored 10 goals in this match.
Senior Blue v St Pat’s Town:
Against St Patrick’s Town, who are the main competition in Wellington, the team
struggled to captilise on early chances. The first quarter finished at 1 all
despite PNBHS dominating much of the play. The second quarter saw the teams
trade goals throughout. St Pat’s Town took a slender 4-3 lead at the halftime
break. Early in the third quarter the Blue team found themselves 6-3 down and
things looked ominous. Levi Timms and Eugene Stassen then stepped up and took
control of the game. In the next two minutes of game, time the PNBHS scored 6
unanswered goals, with Levi scoring 3 and Eugene 2. In the final quarter, the
Blue team was relentless. The final score was a quality 13-8 win. Levi Timms
scored 7 goals in this match.
