1st XI Football v Red Sox FC - Saturday 20 June

PlaceMakers PNBHS 1st XI played Red Sox FC on Saturday 20 June, losing 1–3. Red Sox started well, dominating both territory and possession early in the match. They took an early lead after a defensive error, which seemed to spur Boys’ High into action. Soon after, captain Mason Charlton equalised with a well-taken shot fired from the top of the box. Despite several golden opportunities, Boys’ High struggled to make the target. Just before half time, Red Sox scored again to take the lead.

In the second half Boys’ High had ample possession, and created several more chances on goal, but failed to execute. Red Sox were happy to “park the bus” and were strong enough to withstand the Boys’ High attack. A third goal to Red Sox from a set piece outside the box gave the visitors the win, in a very frustrating match. Of note, the team tried hard but lacked the polish, which was evident in previous games. Boys’ High look forward to their mid-week fixture on Wednesday against Kapiti College in Palmerston North.

The 1st XI would like to thank our team sponsors: PlaceMakers Palmerston North and JG Residential.
