1st XI Football v Hokowhitu - Saturday 27 June

PlaceMakers PNBHS 1st XI played Hokowhitu FC, drawing 3 – 3.  Boys’ High started poorly, missing an early golden chance to open the score, while gifting two goals from poor defending and decision making.  This lead gave Hokowhitu the ability to “park the bus” and cut out any goal scoring chances, which made scoring difficult for Boys’ High.  Under pressure, Boys’ High lifted the tempo and were finally rewarded after a solo run by hard-working Joey Thomas, who beat three defenders to open their tally.  Despite several well-worked chances, Boys’ High could not hit the target and went into the half, 2 – 1 down.

In the second half, against the run of play, Hokowhitu scored again to take a 3 – 1 lead.  This seemed to spark Boys’ High into action, resulting in goals from Jaiden Meyer and Alex “Killer” Kilkelly.  After a frustrating start, the team played well and put in the effort to salvage a draw, against a competitive Hokowhitu team.

Of note, Aadesh Ganugapati, Joey Thomas, Daniel McDougall and Ryan Watson had strong games.

The 1st XI would like to thank our team sponsors:  PlaceMakers Palmerston North and JG Residential.
