1st XI Hockey v High School Hockey Club B - Saturday 27 June
The 1st XI Hockey Team played High School Hockey Club B on Saturday in the first round of the Premier Reserve Competition.
This was to be a much-improved performance for the 1st XI, with some outstanding team play throughout the match. PNBHS had plenty of opportunities to score in the first quarter, however, the first goal was from a penalty stroke converted by Zac Buinimasi.
The match started to open up in the second quarter with some structured play, and outstanding passing started to shine through. Blake Rhodes-Robinson scored his first for the day before half-time, giving PNBHS a 2 - 0 lead.
PNBHS wanted to build on their performance in the second half after several missed attempts at goal. This goal was realised in the third quarter. The first goal was another Zac Buinimasi penalty stroke conversion, followed by a superb team effort finished by Ben Havord. Blake Rhodes-Robinson scored his second for the day, giving him a great birthday double.
PNBHS pressed home the advantage in the last quarter with a final goal from a penalty corner from Zac Buinimasi, giving the PNBHS 1st XI the 6 - 0 win.
The match was extremely pleasing and illustrated what this PNBHS team could do with structured play and teamwork.
The next match is against Cornerstone Christian School in the first competition game of the Intercity Secondary School Competition on Wednesday at 5.45 pm.
