2nd XV v Wellington College - Saturday 18 July

The 2nd XV entertained Wellington College 2nd XV in their final game before the Super Eight competition starts. It was the first time this season that the team had faced another 2nd XV and so the team were keen to lay down a marker.

The game started positively off a nice lineout where the ball was shifted to Kalis Mason who charged into the line and offloaded the ball for Simi Togoloa to touch down under the posts. From the kick off PNBHS attacked again and were rewarded with another try from a strong carry from Lawrence Leung-Wai. The PNBHS forwards were into their work now and some more strong carries created inroads before the ball was shifted wide for Simi Togoloa to dot down before a well-timed ‘tip on’ from Lawrence Leung-Wai saw Kodie Albert-Papuni through a hole and scamper 30m for the score.

The second half started in similar fashion with PNBHS building phases and a nice run and pass from Tremaine Kinnear saw Simi Togoloa complete his hat-trick. A turnover as Wellington attacked was punished as Anitoni Metui went 70m to score before he dotted down again following a chip through from Kees Jahnke. A well-timed ‘tip-pass’ from Tusi Mafi put Keanu Watson through for another score before another turnover was punished as quick hands from Jonty Fleck put Jack Gordon over in the corner.

Final Score 55-0 win to the 2nd XV.

A very pleasing performance from the team as they kept their concentration and maintained their structures well and hopefully they can maintain this as they head into their first Super Eight fixture against Hastings this Saturday.

Scorers:

Tries: Simi Togoloa (3), Lawrence Leung-Wai, Kodie Albert-Papuni, Anitoni Metui (2), Keanu Watson & Jack Gordon
