1st XI Hockey v Massey University Premier Reserve - Saturday 8 August
The 1st XI Hockey team played Massey University Premier Reserve on Saturday, 8th August, at the Twin Turfs.
This match was a must-win game for the 1st XI if they were to keep their hopes alive of playing the remainder of the season in the Manawatu Premier Division.
The game started being played at a good pace from PNBHS, and this created plenty of opportunities to score. Connor Managh was first to send the ball into the goal after some outstanding positional play in the first quarter.
PNBHS increased its dominance in the second quarter, converting two penalty corners to both Zac Buinimasi and Malaki Masoe. This made the score three nil at halftime.
The second half carried on in the same fashion with PNBHS scoring in each of the third and fourth quarters. Massey never looked like threatening the PNBHS line. Connor Managh scored his second for the day, and Hael Pritchard scored the final goal giving PNBHS a five-nil victory.
Next week the 1st XI play Whanganui with the winner taking a spot in the Premier Division for the remainder of the year.
