2020 - the year of COVID-19 - has been a difficult year for performing groups to navigate the different levels and group numbers. Through all of this, groups have continued to rehearse and find ways to make their passion, performance and craft available for public viewing and pleasure. The Royal New Zealand Airforce Band have filmed a variety of excellent ensemble performances from all the sections that make up the band. We were delighted to see two of our Old Boys playing in the Brass Ensemble. Both are playing trumpet, Leading Aircraftman Tom Baker, 2002-2006, a member of Concert Band, Stage Band and OK Chorale.
Corporal Kieran Smith, 2007-2011, a member of Concert Band from the age of Year 9, and a member of the Brass Quintet, and Stage Band. Also selected for NZ Secondary Schools Brass Band, NZ Youth Brass Band, NZ Youth Jazz Band and Dux Artium 2011. A present member of the NZ Champion, Wellington Brass Band and the New Zealand Airforce Band. Kieran can also be seen playing the last post on ANZAC Day at the National Cenotaph in Wellington. It is great to see our Old Boys continuing their passions at such high standards.
