CRICKET REPORT: PNBHS 1ST XI VS Old Boys CC – 07/11/20
Captain Jonty Fleck won the toss and elected to bat first on a good-looking Fitzherbert Park pitch. The opening batsmen made a steady start and progressed to 67 for 1 by the 23rd over when rain stopped play. With constant squalls coming through, the game was delayed, and the overs were reduced to 32 before play resumed. With 9 overs to go, the batsmen played aggressively, advancing the score to 138 for 3 by the close of innings. Jonty Fleck made 27 not out, Jaiden Meyer 31 and Josh Campbell 54.
With an interrupted 1st innings, the Duckworth/Lewis/Stern calculation came into play, requiring Old Boys to score 184 from their 32 overs. They started aggressively, but good bowling and fielding soon had wickets falling at regular intervals and after some middle order resistance, they were bowled out for 93 in the 25th over. Debutant, Aadesh Ganugapati took 2 for 18, Jett Donald-Charnley 2 for 12 and Bayley Latter mopped up the tail with 4 for 7.
A good win for the 1st XI.
