3rd XI Cricket v United - Saturday 21 November
The 3rd XI played United and chose to bat on their first outing on grass. A wicket fell in the 2nd over and tight bowling and aggressive fielding was making runs very hard to come by. At 32-3 after 15 overs the 3rds were in trouble. Josh Langridge and Ethan Campbell were able to get the score through to 50-3 at drinks. After drinks the switch was flicked and the scoring accelerated with Josh scoring 38 off 37 before he fell with the score 104 in the 27th over. Thomas Bell and Ethan kept the score moving, then Ethan Robinson came to the middle and didn’t let the momentum slip. Ethan Campbell brought up his 50 as the 3rds made 194-6 in 40 overs. Ethan Campbell 68, Ethan Robinson 38* (28 balls), Josh Langridge 38. 144 runs off the second 20 overs was a very pleasing result.
Saim Ahmed made a break through in the 2nd over, however the 3rds were unable to apply much pressure. A flurry of wickets at the end provided some excitement, but it wasn’t enough as United reached 195-6 in 37.3 overs. Thomas Bell 3-19 the pick of the bowlers. A loss by 4 wickets.
